WINSTON IGBAWASE AKILE JIJA, simply known as IGBA JIJA is a former football player who started his football career at JUNIOR BCC LIONS FC, GBOKO NIGERIA. He went on to play for the BCC LIONS FC GBOKO Senior team in 1993 to 1994. JIJA also played for Nigerian League Sides like LOBI BANK FC, VIP LAGOS FC, NIGER TORNADOES, GOMBE UNITED and FIRSTBANK FC LAGOS. He also had brief spells at AFRICA SPORTS ABIDJAN and OLYMPIC PARALIMNI CYPRUS.
IGBA JIJA was invited to the Nigeria national U23 team by Willy Bazuaye and was invited to the SUPER EAGLES by Coach Amodu Shuaibu. However, an injury to his Achilles tendon ended his career.
He has a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Public Administration, and has worked as a scouting representative for ACM FOOTBALL CONCEIL, MASSEILLES, FRANCE. He also worked for Landmark Sporting Company as scouting representative.
Presently, JIJA is the CEO of YOUNG MAYORS FOOTBALL ACADEMY, a fast growing football academy based in Makurdi the Benue State Capital, Nigeria. This academy specializes in scouting and grooming young talented footballers for the international football market. Notable players from the academy includes: (i) Elijah Benedict, SC COLVIHA, Portugal (ii) Stanley Ogor, Dibba FC UAE (iii) Eche Christopher, Solin FC Croatia (iv) Shadrach Kator Akile, Solin FC Croatia, (v) Adinni Emmanuel, FC Kper Slovania.
IGBA JIJA is also the scouting representative of OPEN WAYS FOOTBALL LIMITED, BELGIUM.
